The 2011 Iowa Pro-Am kicked off with a start with one of the biggest turnouts yet.  Over 550 shooters braved the snow and the wind to compete.  First day of shooting consists of an NFAA 5-spot target with a little different twist on scoring.  They score the X as a 6 instead of the normal bonus of an X.  This scoring system takes some of the pressure off, but if you expect to win this one, you will need to keep at least 59-60 of the 60 arrows shot in the 6 ring.

We are seeing more and more Gold Tips, especially the Triple X shafts,in these tournaments. At the end of the first day of shooting, three Gold Tip shooters had a perfect score of 360 points.  Tim Gillingham, Chance Beaubouef, and Jamie Jamison and were set up to win it all on Sunday. 

Sunday’s round consists of a 30 arrow round on the 3-Spot Vegas round, with the X being scored as an 11. 

In the end, the Men and Women’s Pro Division had ties that needed to be shot off.  Sally Robie, shooting 26”,  4 yr old Gold Tip 30X shafts held onto her nerves and won the top prize in the Women’s Pro Division.  The men on the other hand had a 7-way tie showing the incredible competitiveness among some of the best shooters in the world.  As a final result, Gold Tip Pro Staffer Chance Beaubouef shot the final arrow inside out in the 11-ring for the first win of the year and a sweep of the pro divisions by Gold Tip shooters. 

 We are happy to say that there were three more first place finishes in the amateur classes. Gold Tip wants to congratulate Bob Rudolph, Sheila Aho, and Julene Hakl for their fine finishes.  Great shooting!
