2007 Arizona Cup, Pheonix, AZ

In 2006 Goldtip’s staff manager Tim Gillingham run away with the qualifying round trouncing the field of some of the best shooter in the world with, a “hunting arrow”? It stands to prove that usually it is the shooter that matters more than the equipment. Tim has always said that weight of the arrow is the biggest factor when determining wind drift, but shooting ability and experience is primary to knowing how to shoot successfully in the wind.

This year he had a little something “new “ in the quiver as Goldtip is experimenting with a addition to their line to cater to the serious long range FITA shooter. This requires a heavy, small diameter arrow that will maintain maximum momentum down range and not be affected as much by the elements. This year their was no one catching Braden Gellentine as he pretty much matched the performance that Gillingham had the previous year. “ It was hard to get my bow sighted in perfectly in practice because the wind was non-stop. It created some misses when the wind eased up a bit as my windage was off a little.” Tim still crawled back to a second place finish in the Qualifying Round and almost got Braden in the Olympic Round, but ended up 2nd. Not bad for a guy that just dabbles in the FITA format. Great job Tim!
